DTH MULTI-USE CASING RING BIT SYSTEM
Versatility and Performance with Multi-Use DTH Casing Advancement System
Maximize the efficiency and versatility of your drilling operations with our cutting-edge Multi-Use DTH casing drilling system. Designed to handle a wide range of drilling conditions, these bits deliver exceptional performance and durability.
Multi-Use System Casing Dimension Range: 406mm – 1219mm
In some geotechnical conditions and project requirements, the Multi-Use casing advancement system becomes the most economical choice. Tri-Mach Multi-Use system is designed for projects, where casing is retracted after reaching the required drilling depth.
Most common uses for Multi-Use / Retractable Casing Advancement System:
- Pre-drilling, for example to soften the soil for later sheet pile installation
- Casing drilling to required depth. Concreting and retracting the steel casing before concrete is hardened.
- Installing certain elements, such as concrete elements with the help of a temporary drilled casing

FAQ: DTH-Drill Bits for Casing Drilling
Can you explain different terminology for DTH Drill Bits?
DTH Drill Bit is a term that is generally used for all drilling bits in DTH (Down-The-Hole). They could include for example:
- DTH-Button Bit / DTH-Rock Bit = DTH Drill Bit designed to drill a rock hole without casing.
- DTH-Pilot Bit = DTH-Drill Bit that is designed to drill casings / DTH-Piles. Normally used together with Ring Bits.
- DTH-Wing Bit = DTH-Drill Bit that is used to drill casings without the Ring Bit.
- DTH-Hole Opener = DTH Drill Bit that is used to enlarge existing rock hole diameters
- DTH Multi-Use Casing Advancement System = System, that is designed for retracted casings. In other words, a single Ring Bit is used for drilling multiple times with the same casing.
What does DTH-Piling / DTH-Drilled Piles mean?
- DTH-Drilled Piles are steel casings that have been drilled using the Down-The-Hole hammer (DTH). Piles are normally drilled through soil layers and into the bedrock. After drilling, casings can be concreted. In Multi-Use Casing System, the casing can be retracted and re-drilled again for another location.
When should I use the Multi-Use Casing Advancement System?
- Multi-Use Casing Drilling System is used, when the same casing and ring bit are drilled multiple times.
- Such conditions might include for example pre-drilling to soften and break rocks in the soil, or that the driller wants to retract the casing after drilling.
- With the Multi-Use Casing Advancement System, it is possible to drill the casing with the DTH-method to required depth, reinforce&conrete the casing, and retract the casing right after concreting.
- It is also used to install certain foundation elements in tough soils. Firstly, casing is DTH-drilled into required depth. Secondly, the designed element is installed to the bottom of the casing. Lastly, casing and the Multi-Use Ring Bit are retracted from the ground, leaving the element into designed depth.
In our project, we have piles with really challenging geotechnical conditions. Can you produce a Ring Bit that works even in these tough conditions?
- Yes. We design project-specific custom models for tough conditions. Lately, this has been really popular with great results!
